Popis: | Historic analysis of Hanford nuclear waste has assumed that Pu was in the form of PuO2 or was a trace component co-precipitated with iron hydroxides. This study discovers previously unknown solids containing Pu and Bi as well as Pu, Bi, and P in Hanford waste tank 241-SY-102. The SEM–EDS spectra of waste samples from a fast settling-solids fraction confirmed the presence of particulate containing Pu–Bi–O or Pu–Bi–P–O as major observable elements. |
