It is important for the chiropractor to be able to determine the nature of the pathology discovered on plain film radiography, and to suggest appropriate follow-up investigations, deemed to be clinically appropriate. This case demonstrates the value of plain-film radiography in diagnosing a rare sclerosing bone dysplasia, which in 10–15% of affected individuals is associated with articular pain and swelling. However, the demonstration of the lesions on CT is unusual, in so far as plain-film radiography is the gold standard by which to diagnose this condition. |
