Popis: | Association analysis has been used to test whether categories of individuals in a population are associated or segregated for instantaneous or relatively brief (synchronic) time frames. In this paper we extend this idea to populations from different (allochronic) time frames. To demonstrate our test we used data from a 3-year study of Rattus exulans from central Java, Indonesia. Despite between 35 and 73% of the rats being present after a month time lag, the analysis showed no regular pattern of overall allochronic association. However, histograms of the frequency of association values for some sex-age categories revealed that the categories tended to be distributed non-randomly even when no individuals in the two populations were in common. Allochronic patterns are consistent with synchronic patterns previously reported but the lack of strong allochronic patterns emphasizes the vagility of R. exulans . |
