Many children across the United States suffer from asthma and acute asthma exacerbations, especially minority children. School-based asthma programs show promise in improving asthma education and long-term asthma management. These programs have the potential for impacting the lives of asthmatics, especially minority and low-income children, who may be lost to follow-up with their primary care physicians and other providers. Studies have shown that school-based asthma programs are effective in improving health literacy and asthma control in children with asthma. |
