In this study, we examine womens experience of subtle and overt sexist situations and explore several factors that may influence perceptions of those situations and the psychological distress they cause. 1) we investigate the perception of subtle and overt sexist situations and how perceived peer norms and societal norms can influence ones own perception of discrimination. 2) we investigate the psychological distress that can be caused by subtle and overt sexist situations and how it is influenced by ones self-concept and use of social support. |
