Popis: | Silk fibers utilized as promising templates to produce antimicrobial composites and organic-inorganic advanced materials. The process involves higher incubation times and more preparation steps with Ag precursors. To overcome such procedural bottlenecks, this study aims at a quick and eco-friendly approach to deposit silver nanoparticles on degummed silk fibers for antibacterial applications. Degummed fibers with a simple pre-treatment step with Aegle marmelos leaf extract solutions resulted in rapid nanosilver deposition. Results present that the formed nanoparticles (~70 nm) are optically active, crystalline structures and deposited uniformly on the silk surface. Furthermore, they are antibacterial when tested against Escherichia coli bacterium. |
