Popis: | In the work we consider certain optical properties of bio- membrane due to dichroism of polypeptides associated with membrane structures, shifting of polarization due to (pi) - electron transitions in the peptide groups and photo-induced changes in channels through which solute molecules pass. In respect of these optical characteristics, we have designed an optical fiber extrinsic sensor for measurement of permeability, particularly the Na and K diffusion through bio-membrane, based on the principle of attenuation of laser beam due to change in refractive index gradient of a liquid, induced by the variation of concentration gradient across the membrane. |
