This paper presents the performance of a distribution static compensator (D-STATCOM) with PI and BACKSTEPPING controllers for compensation of reactive power, current quality, stability rating, time network respone, this work focuses modeling, analysis and simulation of D-STATCOM which its main function to regulate the point of common coupling PCC voltage magnitude by dynamically absorbing or generating reactive power to the AC grid network, the simulation results found show that control based on BACKSTEPPING controllers compared to that based on conventional PI type regulators is more efficient and robust and ensures perfect decoupling between the two active and reactive axes of D-STATCOM under various loading, the performance of D-STATCOM whith controllers is also analysed and compared for DC voltage regulation, the simulation results are obtained using MATLAB/SIMULINK software. |
