Popis: Clinical competence is generally defined as the ability to perform acceptably those duties directly related to patient care, including the personal and technical skills that lead to effective intervention in illness or injury. The thesis of this year’s educational symposium was that veterinary educators, including clinicians, owe animals, their owners, and veterinary students the assurance that clinical competence will be evaluated effectively. In addition to indirectly safeguarding patient health, a goal of clinical competency assessment is to provide opportunities for formative evaluation that lead to improvement of clinical skills.
