Vibration, conceived as a force generating forms, seems, in a semiotic perspective, to bring the idea of structure as close as possible to the materiality of the work since, as Paul Klee explained, it determines both the topological arrangement and the dynamism of the latter. Vibration is at work in Peter Eisenman’s architecture, where a diagrammatic elaboration meets a “blurring” experience. Taking into account the difficulty of reducing the morphology resulting from vibration to indexical signs such as traces or imprints, the phenomenon can be understood in relation to the question of the intelligibility of the sensitive. |
