Circular polarization memory in single Quantum Dots

Popis: Under quasi‐resonant circularly polarized optical excitation, charged quantum dots may emit polarized light. We measured various transitions with either positive, negative or no circular‐polarization memory. We explain these observations and quantitatively calculate the polarization spectrum. Our model use the full configuration‐interaction method, including the electron‐hole exchange interaction, for calculating the quantum dot’s confined many‐carrier states, along with one assumption regarding the spin relaxation of photoexcited carriers: Electrons maintain their initial spin polarization, while holes do not.
