Reaction of aromatic bis-azides with compounds containing two double bonds

Popis: Polycyclization of aromatic bis-azides with compounds containing two double bonds produces macromolecular compounds with aziridine rings in the main chain. It is shown that the reaction occurs by the mechanism of coordinated 1,3-dipolar cyclo-addition, with simultaneous formation of two new bonds. The unstable Δ2-1,2,3-triazolines formed decompose with loss of nitrogen during the course of the reaction to aziridines. The kinetics of the reaction have been studied and the results obtained are explained on the basis of the effect of polarization of the double bond and the steric factor on the reaction rate.
