Popis: An archaeological watching brief was conducted at 9-12 Middle Street, Brighton. Possible raised beach gravel deposits were recorded overlain by silt clay of likely colluvial origin. A shallow, broadly east-west running medieval ditch was recorded, cut into the colluvial deposit. This ditch is significant in being a rare example of evidence for medieval settlement within the original boundaries of Brighton. A number of lined tanks were recorded, relating to the mid-19th to early 20th century use of the site as a mineral water factory An archaeological watching brief was conducted at 9-12 Middle Street, Brighton.
