Popis: | In order to replace fossil fuel and increase the usage of forest fuel, an efficient planning of the logistics activities is required. The aim of this paper was to investigate what factors affect the design of supply chains of forest fuel. Literature in the field was reviewed and complimented by a case study addressing why supply chains have their current design. The case study showed that important decisions when planning a supply chain of forest fuel are about the nodes, which are points where the flows of forest fuel consolidate and serve multiple purposes such as storing, processing, transshipment, and bridging the gap between supply and demand. However, the current nodes were not located to achieve only cost efficient transports and processing of forest fuel. There were a number of reasons that were identified as factors affecting the nodes that can be explained by viewing the supply chains from different perspectives. This paper proposes a planning approach that can be used to take decisions within the design supply chains of forest fuel, both from a supply chain - and from different actors’ perspectives.
