A case of congenital cystic adenomatoid malformation of the lung in an adult

Popis:	Congenital cystic adenomatoid malformation of the lung has been reported in stillborn babies or neonates, but it is rarely seen in adults. The clinical course of this disease for those affliccted as adults has not been reported. An operation was performed on a 33-year-old male who suffered from cystic lesions of the superior segment of the right lower lobe, and pathologic examination revealed this disease. Muscle plombage of the longissimus muscle was performed to treat empyema on postoperative day 104. Thereafter no relapse occurred. The ten adult cases reported previously were reviewed. In these cases congenital cystic adenomatoid malformation of the lung was also thought to hve a bight potential for malignancy. However, defined lesions and no other abnormalities were seen in these cases in contrast to stillborn babies and neonates.
