The development and implementation of paper-based sensing devices rely on the ability to mass-produce these platforms at a low cost and in large quantities. This chapter describes the most commonly used printing methods to fabricate paper-based sensors and biosensors with embedded chemical and biological recognition elements and physical transducers. Methods to produce consumer-ready prototypes that are easy-to-use, affordable and accessible are described with examples of applications in the clinical, food and environmental monitoring fields. |
