Popis: Over the last few decades, the tremendous progress in diode lasers has led to devices with excellent properties, such as high modulation up to the GHz regime, very high efficiency and kW-output levels. All this has been achieved with very small devices that can be fabricated in a wide range of emission wavelengths using standard III/V processes. The synergy with semiconductor mass production technologies, together with the increasing volume of production, has enabled a dramatic reduction in device costs. Good performance, in combination with low fabrication costs, paved the way for a wide field of application. Today, we can find semiconductor lasers in almost every area of daily life.
