Visible light communication (VLC) is a wireless communication technology that uses light signals as carriers to enable high-speed communication. Wavelength Division Multiplexing (WDM) can be adopted in such systems to increase capacity by transmitting data using different wavelengths. In this paper, the performance of a Coarse WDM (CWDM) based VLC system with Line-Of-Sight (LOS) communication by employing Quadrature Amplitude Modulation (4 - QAM) is investigated. The BER performance of the system with different channel spacing and various channel filters is simulated. The results indicate that the use of QAM modulation improves the channel capacity while assuring an average BER of 1 × 10−3 across the channels for a channel spacing of 20 nm. |
