Popis: In this experiment, the “decay” with time of injected radio-active phosphorus, P32, in various fractions of the rat liver is studied, with a view to discovering an acid-soluble fraction which would appear to be an “immediate precursor” of ribonucleic acid and deoxyribonucleic acid. It is shown that the Specific Activity-Time curve of liver inorganic phosphate does not satisfy the requirements of an “immediate precursor” of the nucleic acids. On the other hand, a compound, chemically identifiable with adenylic acid, has been shown to be more suitable for use as a base-line for the turnover of these acids.
