Popis:	The effect of a number of factors on the opening of stomata in the intact leafand in the isolated leaf epidermis of Commelina communis has been investigated. Stomata in the intact leaf opened wide in thelight and closed rapidly on transfer to the dark. They were also sensitive to CO 2 . In contrast, stomata in isolated epidermis floated on an incubation solution containing 100 mol m -3 KCl responded neither to light nor CO 2 . They opened as widely as those inthe intact leaf when treated with fusicoccin
