Hydrogeological targets are characterized by various physical properties. Therefore, different geophysical methods and their combinations are applied for solving different problems in groundwater exploration. Geoelectric and geoelectromagnetic methods are particularly feasible in characterization of groundwater salinity. Magnetic resonance soundings evaluate groundwater content and transmissivity of the aquifer. Seismic methods are applied to delineate geometrical features of different hydrogeological units. The combination of the above methods allows to reduce the inherent ambiguity of geophysical inversions leading, under favorable conditions, to more reliable hydrogeological interpretation. All the above individual and integrated methods were employed in groundwater research and exploration in Israel. |
