Near-infrared diode laser spectroscopic study of Dicke narrowing and pressure broadening in the oxygen A-band

Popis: A near-infrared diode laser spectrometer based on GaAlAs semiconductor diodes is described. Thermally tuned laser radiation is frequency modulated and detected by a silicon photodetector. The signal is obtained by a phase sensitive method. The line shapes of the rovibronic transitions of the oxygen A-band have been measured at pressures varying between 30 and 400 Torr. The line shapes exhibit collisional (Dicke) narrowing which can be reproduced by the simulation of the soft collision model line profile of Galatry (Phys. Rev., 122 (1961) 1218). At higher pressure the line shape exhibits linear pressure broadening.
