Popis: | There is a challenge for performing meaningful commissioning tests on the high voltage XLPE cables after installation, especially for the long power cables. The conventional resonant AC voltage method requires high reactive power and high voltage level to detect service endangering defects. Thus, the Damped-AC (DAC) method was proposed to solve the problem as it has the advantage of smaller device size and shorter test time. In the paper, a comparative investigation is introduced in the paper to examine the effectiveness of the DAC method for the dielectric materials and technologies of the power cable manufactured in CHINA. Five different kinds of defeat models were set during the cable joint installation. The experiment results indicate that the PDIV under DAC and the PDIV under 50 Hz AC is close with each other as the defeats are small, and the DAC is an effective method to detect the defeat in the cable joint and diagnosis the defeat type. Finally, A 500 kV DAC testing system is proposed to be built for the 500 kV XLPE power cable, and the design of the system is discussed. |
