Popis: This article aims to bring the provisions of multiresolution analysis closer to digital processing of a short circuit in the electrical network. A kind of “edge effect” arising in processing more than two wavelet coefficients, when the window of restored process is narrowed relative to the window of observation, is described. The essential importance of thresholding (nonlinear processing of the threshold signal) is noted. In the choice of thresholding coefficients out of a limited set of values, the multiresolution analysis based on the Haar wavelet can be performed in real time. Denoising the fast filter output signals of the orthogonal components is demonstrated in this case. The particular importance of the multiresolution analysis is due to the fact that this is the only method of digital processing without prior separation into fixed process segments before and after the short circuit. The multiresolution analysis is well tempered to adaptive filtering of the relay protection input values.
