Popis: The effect of sodium deprivation on the tissue uptake and metabolism of 3H-l,2-d-aldosterone was studied in male Holtzman rats. The total CH2Cl2-soluble aldosterone radioactivity was determined in each tissue extract. All tissues, other than blood and spleen, from sodium- deprived rats contained more CH2CI2-S0Iuble radioactivity but the per cent as aldosterone was less than control at 5 min after injection. Livei from the sodium-deprived rats at 15 and 30 min exhibited a significantly smaller percentage of counts present as aldosterone. At 60 min heart, kidney, liver, muscle and spleen from sodiumdeprived rats showed significantly less radioactivity than did tissues from control rats. The ta/2 for 3H-aldosterone in blood of sodium-deprived rats was 19 min as compared with 32 min in control animals. Since these data suggested an increased rate of metabolism in sodium-deprived rats, the biliary excretion of 3H-aldosterone in both groups was monitored by continuous bile collection for 5.5 hr. During the firs...
