Popis: | Research has shown a strong relationship between caregiving styles and child functioning such that authoritative caregiving is associated with better child psychosocial adjustment (Baumrind, 1966). The purpose of the present study was to extend this research to determine whether a similar relationship exists between caregiving style and adolescent functioning in a residential treatment facility setting. Forty-seven adolescent females at a residential facility, their counselors and their social workers participated. Results revealed a significant relationship between caregiving style and adolescent psychosocial functioning. The implications of the results are discussed in terms of the impact of caregiving style at a residential treatment facility for adolescents. |
