Mössbauer study of the effects of electron scavenger on the stabilisation forms of iron atoms produced at the decay of57Co in the glass matrices

Popis: The yields of the stabilised forms of iron atoms produced by K-capture of 57 Co in glassy frozen solutions of sulfuric, perchloric and nitric acids and their salts at different concentrations have been estimated from their Mossbauer emission spectra. The data obtained was interpreted on the basis of competition between ferric ions and other components of the solution for the Auger electrons. The effectiveness of the scavengers was estimated by means of simple competition kinetics and is similar to their effectiveness for electron capture during radiolysis of the frozen solutions.
