Popis: | Emerging Radio Frequency (RF) systems, such as radar and communications systems, require major improvements in microwave packaging technology and material development for phased array subsystems. The technology must address reduced life cycle cost and adequate performance. The chemical engineering of a microwave ferrite has been combined with multilayered ceramic tape technology to produce a planar phase shifter that is compact and inexpensive to manufacture. The dielectric and magnetic performance of the phase shifter provide enough phase shift per unit length and low enough attenuation that the device can be used in an advanced antenna subsystem. This paper will outline the properties of the LTCC ferrite material, the characteristics of the digital phase shifters, and the measurement techniques used to determine both dielectric and magnetic characteristics at the pertinent microwave frequencies. |
