The beam transport and separation system of the Moscow Meson Facility provides the possibility of simultaneous studies on experimental facilities due to H/sup -/-beam splitting which is produced by charge exchange of the beam fraction (H/sup -/ to H/sup +/) on a foil with the subsequent 2 cm separation of particles of opposite sign in the vertical plane using dipole magnets. Splitting of one of the beams from the main path to the experimental targets is performed by splitter magnets, which are dipole magnets with the through channels in pole faces, separated from the interpole gap with the steel septum. The channel profile has been optimized using two-dimensional calculations. Three-dimensional simulation has been performed aimed at edge field shaping. The calculation data are compared with magnet measurement results. A full-scale model of the two-channel splitting magnet has been developed and constructed. > |
