Popis:	The recent severe downturn in Canada’s economy has resulted in an increased interest in the effect of economic factors on alcohol consumption, in particular in the effect of income on alcohol consumption. In this paper we examine the long-run income elasticity of demand for alcohol using cross-section data for the counties of Ontario for the period 1975–1978, using direct and indirect measures of income and Liquor Control Board of Ontario (LCBO) outlet sales data measured in absolute alcohol.
