Popis: While colorectal carcinoma is a common tumor entity in adults, it is extremely rare in children with an incidence of 1:1000000 and represents a minor proportion of pediatric neoplasia cases with an incidence of less than 1%. If colorectal carcinoma occurs, the outcome is often fatal due to aggressive tumor biology with mostly mucinous, poorly differentiated, and aggressively growing tumors; the clinical symptoms are often attributed too late to a malignancy. The present report describes the case of a 9-year-old boy who presented with complaints of general weakness and recurrent abdominal pain, caused by an adenocarcinoma of the ascending colon (T3 N1 M0). After right hemicolectomy, chemotherapy was performed using the FOLFOX 4 scheme. To our knowledge, this case report is of the youngest patient affected by a primary, non-syndrome-associated colorectal adenocarcinoma.
