MoO3 is one of the most relevant representatives of layered materials due to its energy storage properties, which draw much attention, particularly to battery researchers. On the other hand, its main drawbacks are large expansion and low conductivity, which impede its applicability. Our investigation allays the volume expansion and enhances the ionic and electronic conductivity by doping vanadium through a one-step plasma evaporation technique. V-doping augments the lithium-ion storage to the point of attaining 1184 mAh g−1 after 400 cycles at 1 A g−1. The layered nanostructure is almost intact after the stability test, which reflects the V-doped MoO3 capability of withstanding an intense Li+ insertion process. Furthermore, when it is evaluated as the anode material in a full-cell configuration with LiCoO2 as the cathode, V-doped MoO3 can deliver a high energy density of 231 Wh kg−1 and good stability. |
