A specially designed and instrumented heat pump is described and its performance, using R22 as the working fluid has been evaluated. Actual coefficients of performance range from 51 to 72% of the corresponding theoretical Rankine coefficients of performance and 47 to 62% of the corresponding Carnot coefficients of performance. Equations are presented which correlate these heat pump effectiveness factors against the temperature lift of the saturated working fluid. An equation is also presented which correlates the actual coefficient of performance against temperature lift. These values range from 3.8 for a temperature lift of 49°C to 7.3 for a temperature lift of 21°C. |
