Popis: The demand for various products in the chicken processing industry necessitates several weight ranges of chicken supplies. Moreover, each chicken flock inevitably exhibits its own weight distribution owing to biological variations, seasonality, and random factors related to weather, pests, and other biological hazards. Therefore, in order to promote cost-effectiveness, a company requires guideline policies for average chicken size, based on production demand and chicken weight supply. In this study, we propose the use of simulation optimization to determine a mean chicken weight and chicken supply quantity by considering order frequency and volume. Empirical data from a studied company are used to illustrate the proposed framework. This article contributes to an improved understanding of the concept of chicken order and supply distribution and its effects on chicken processor profitability. Adopting a policy for appropriate chicken size and supply will benefit both the chicken processor and farmers. Likewise, the proposed concept of simulation optimization offers the potential to facilitate such a decision and yield cost-saving benefits to the chain.
