Popis: The origin of charged hypermultiplets in the six-dimensional duality between F theory and heterotic string is found from a purely type IIB string viewpoint through a detailed study in the case of the SO (10) gauge group. At every intersection point of zero loci of the discriminant, the J function is used to determine the [ p , q ] charge of each intersecting 7-brane. We identify it with an asymptotic charge of string junctions. It is then shown that they have the expected charged representation. A similar agreement is also found for all other simply laced gauge groups.
