Disruption of Navel Orangeworm (Lepidoptera: Pyralidae) Mating in Large-scale Plots with Synthetic Sex Pheromone1

Popis:	Four 6–8 ha plots in almond orchards were treated with ( Z, Z )-ll,13-hexadecadienal, a sex pheromone of the navel orangeworm, Amyelois transitella (Walker), to prevent mating, reduce populations, and reduce nut damage at harvest. Mating successrates of dealated females placed in plots were reduced 87.4, 65.2, 85.3, and 64.6% in the four tests. Nut damage at harvest was reduced by 27, 34, 12, and 22% in treated plots compared with control plots.
