Popis: Possession and use of radioactive materials require licenses from local and national regulatory agencies such as the Atomic Energy Agency and Radiation Protection Department. There are two basic types of licenses: individual and institutional. An individual license requires proof of competence in handling radioactive materials as obtained through formal education and workshops. An institutional license may permit the use of specific radionuclides or may be a broad license. Institutions with a broad license have the responsibility for approving use of specific radionuclides. The institution should have a radiation safety officer and committee to ensure safe handling of radioactive materials.
