One technology enabling 5G telecommunications development are acoustic wave RF filters. However, protecting them from ESD events can be challenging since protection elements use space and could degrade performance of the RF front end module. This paper presents a HBM simulation methodology of Bulk Acoustic Wave (BAW) filters. The HBM simulation results lined up with measured data indicating that ESD robustness can be evaluated before hardware is developed. The proposed simulation methodology can be applied to discrete acoustic filters and filter modules. |
