Popis: | This article presents streetlight system, the concept to boost energy efficiency of a city. Nowadays, people are too busy, and unable to find time even to switch OFF the lights whenever not required. The system works like, the street lights are changed to ON state in the evening before the sun sets and they are switched OFF next day morning after there is enough light on the roads. This paper gives the best solution for reducing the energy consumption. This system detect vehicle movement/human presence on highways to switch ON only a chunk of street lights ahead of it and to switch OFF the trailing lights in order to reduce consumption of energy. This is achieved by processing the image of approaching object and then sending control message to the street light block. Additional attractive features of the system using suitable sensors for detecting the failed street light and then sending an SMS to the control authority via GSM modem for appropriate action are also included. |
