The prevention of child abuse is viewed through the prism of understanding the dynamics of this phenomenon and the structure of its psychological consequences. Authors of the article compare different approaches to the classification of the ill-treatment and preventive measures, propose three-level system of preventive work. The primary prevention is presented for all kinds of child abuse and neglect, with special attention paid to the issue of criteria for classifying a family into the group of special attention. Authors address the secondary prevention to the families with registered individual manifestations of ill-treatment. Finally, tertiary prevention measures are recommended in the most dangerous cases, when the possibility of further stay of the child in the family is questioned. We emphasize the importance of improving existing forms and methods of diagnostic work with child and adult members of the family in cases of possible or registered abuse. |
