Hipoteza o povezanosti stavova roditelja i formiranja rodnih stereotipa kod djece djelomično je potvrđena, dok hipoteza s pretpostavkom kako će osobe iz manjih sredina biti sklonije rodnim stereotipima nije potvrđena Stereotypes and prejudices are everywhere among us. Gender stereotypes represent distorted images and atitudes about the features and characteristics that men and women should have. Children learn gender stereotypes in very early childhood and their development is influenced by biological and social factors. Because of their harmfulness to society, for example discrimination, it is very important to influence the reduction of stereotypes and prejudices and to raise awareness about them in early childhood when they are strongly developing. The aim of this thesis was to examine children's and parents' gender stereotypes in primary school. Analysis of data, collected by the modified version of the SRE Scale, also called Scale of Attitudes on Gender Equality, in one city school and seven regional schools on a sample of 223 students and 223 parents, came to conclusion that there are differences in gender stereotypes regarding students' gender and age and parents' gender and qualification. The hypothesis of the connection between parents attitudes and the formation of children's gender stereotypes has been partially confirmed, while the hypothesis with the assumption that people from smaller communities will be more prone to gender stereotypes has not been confirmed. |
