Popis: | This article is based on materials of the Russian and Norwegian archival documents, maps and studies, including for the first time introduced into scientific circulation. The aim of this article is to analyze the role of XVIII century maps of Russia and Norway in the construction of the boundaries of the internal sovereignty on example of "«the common districts» and to determine role of the local actors in the spatial territorialization of the northern regions of both countries. The authors emphasize that the maps was perceived as a conceptual visualization of the state claims therefore the maps was used in the diplomatic and political articulation in the both countries. In Norway, it was the regional concept of border delimitation along the Peisen River, or as a minimum extension of Norwegian sovereignty over the areas of the Norwegian economical activity. In Russia, it was the local concept of the border along the western boundary of the Neiden districts and the attempt to integrate the socio-cultural space of the Skolts into the state space. It emphasizes the role of local Russian Kola authorities and Sami in maintaining the stability of the interstate border. |
