The purpose of this paper is to propose a model of basic training of new drivers with the view of changing their behaviour and improvement of their safety in road traffic. For preventing the permanently present problem of accidents and negative behaviour of new drivers in road traffic, radical changes in the training system are necessary. For that purpose, a research on the training process in a driving school was carried out on a sample of young drivers aged 18 to 24 with up to three years of driving, and on their relationship towards road traffic safety. The data were collected by the polling method within the defined sample. The collected data were processed by computers by a program adjusted for that purpose. Particular issues were put in a relation towards traffic accidents in which the polled drivers participated. The specific hypotheses were checked and the conclusions made by the use of a statistic method of the chi-squared test. The exact results were obtained, based on which a new model of basic training of drivers was defined with the goal of improving their safety in road traffic. |
