A time-frequency method for signal components frequency separation estimation is defined. It is based on detecting crossterms peaks in the signal Wigner-Ville distribution. The method is tested on signals with parallel linear FM components, for which the relative error of the components separation estimates is shown to be less than 1.2%. The performance of the method is studied in both the noiseless, as well as in the case when the signal is embedded in additive white Gaussian noise. Finally, we have shown how the obtained components separation estimate can be used in selecting the length of a time-domain smoothing window of the signal WVD. |
