Systemic treatment alone is no longer appropriate for patients with limited peritoneal dissemination from primary or recurrent colon cancer. A clinical pathway for the management of these patients should include cytoreductive surgery and HIPEC. There are four specific problems that have to be resolved in the future in order to improve survival of the patients and to offer this kind of care to more patients. Those problems are too little referrals, too late referrals, too much variety and non- resectability. |
