| Popis: | The article treats the two main uses of the term Illyrian, both as a (pre)-Roman substratum to the territory in which South Slavic languages are now spoken and its application to pre-Romantic and Romantic notions of ethnolinguistic identity among the South Slavs. Notably, in the early 19th century, the Illyrian Movement formed the core of the Croatian National Revival, which in turn formed the modern Croatian national identity. |
