Popis: Modulation transfer function (MTF) is a fundamental characteristic of any imaging system and a measure of its quality. MTF is defined as the normalized magnitude of the Fourier transform of the image system point spread function (PSF). In the study the modulation transfer functions of prints generated on six different electrophotographic devices (five with powder toner and one with liquid toner) and three types of commercially available uncoated papers of 80, 115 and 120 g / m2 will be determined. After printing horizontal and vertical 1cm wide lines, the edge reflectance was measured. Since the derivation of the obtained reflection profile further amplifies the noise, the reflection profile was first approximated by the bi-dose function in the Origin software package. The resulting edge profile (ESF) was then differentiated to calculate the point spread function. A comparison of modulation transfer functions showed that there are significant differences in the MTF of the prints obtained on the same device using different papers, Also, it was confirmed that the direction of printing has an impact on it’s MTF.
