Abstrakt: Colorectal cancer causes significant morbidity and mortality in the United States. African-Americans are disproportionately impacted by this malignancy, with higher prevalence and death rates compared to other ethnic groups. Genetic disorders are responsible for approximately 5-10% of colon cancers. While an infrequent factor in the development of colon cancer, African-Americans are less frequently evaluated for hereditary colon cancer risk.1This is the first African-American who is identified with the rare AXIN2 mutation, highlighting the importance of obtaining a detailed family history.
