Abstrakt: A homologous series of polyprenols isolated from Cleome spinosaL. of Capparidaceaewere established to be nonaprenol (C45), decaprenol (C50), and undecaprenol (C55) composed of an ω-terminal isoprene residues, three internal trans-isoprene residues, and the remaining cis-isoprene residues, respectively. The prenols were demonstrated to be synthesized biologically by successive cis-additions of isoprene residues to all-trans-geranylgeranyl pyrophosphate.
