Abstrakt: The hypothesis that Mediterranean accessions of the genus Medicagoare less susceptible to attack by the weevil Sitona discoideusthan cultivars recently selected in Australia, was tested at a French site, under Mediterranean climatic conditions. The impact of naturally occurring S. discoideuspopulations on 5 Mediterranean accessions and 5 Australian cultivars was measured over the period 1983–85 using techniques which allowed for all developmental stages of the weevil to be accurately sampled. There was no evidence of preference of S. discoideusfor any one Medicagospp. line.
